Design Methodology
This calculator uses the AASHTO 1993 design method for pavement thickness determination. Key parameters include:
- ESALs: Equivalent Single Axle Loads – estimate of total traffic loading
- CBR: California Bearing Ratio – measure of soil strength
- Reliability: Probability that the pavement will perform as designed
